So technically it isn’t the last weekend of summer, but Labor Day weekend always seems to be the closing of those long days spent outside. To me, there is nothing like a day at the beach or lake. There is just something about the water that is so calming and absolutely beautiful. It could have to do with the fact that I grew up going to my family’s cabin every weekend. Those days full of boating and fun in the sun I will treasure forever. Now being able to share these days in the sun with my husband and daughter makes it that more special.

I’m usually not big on one piece swimwear, but here in Northern Cali when you head to the beach if there is no sun it’s actually cold. This was the perfect way for me to stay warm while still getting my tan on for the 2 hours of sun that happen to make an appearance. I’m not saying I won’t be into more one-pieces, I just always was a bikini girl. Growing up in the middle of the country the humidity is insane so the less fabric the better haha. Also real talk… after having a baby 8 months ago, I still have a little weight lingering in the midsection so this just ultimately made me feel more comfortable. It helps that there are so many cute styles out there and a lot of them are now on sale because it is the end of the season (best time to get swimwear if you ask me). I paired my one piece with my favorite levis, straw hat and sunnies for a laid-back look.

I hope you all had the best Labor Day weekend. Now bring on the cozy sweaters and pumpkin spice everything for fall!

We all search for the perfect pair of jeans and I like to think there are so many different brands out there because we all have different body shapes and denim preferences. But I think there is nothing better than finding your perfect pair or two (let’s be real the perfect 3) that we rotate through all the time. I’m talking about this because the jeans you see above are the first pair of denim I have bought post-baby. It honestly made me a little nervous to go out and buy them. I know this may sound silly to some but after having a baby I had the burning questions: “when am I going to fit back into my jeans and feel confident again? If I find a new pair I like, will I be the same size?” At the end of the day, it’s kind of dumb, who really cares if you wear the same size as long as you feel amazing.

It is safe to say I have found a pair I love and just in time for summer in the Bay Area. Bay Area summers are not what I am use to even after living here for almost 3 years. They are mild, sometimes almost cold (well in parts, there are a million micro-climates). So wearing jeans year round is very normal.

I have always been a big fan of Madewell and they did not disappoint. I picked this pair because I was looking for a jean that I could wear every day, but loved the fact that they had a raw hem. I also love that they are high waisted to hold you in all the right places. They run very true to size. I usually wear a 25 or 26 in Madewell denim and in these I am wearing a 26. I’m only 5’3″ so if you are taller these jeans will look like they are more cropped which I think is super cute, but if you have shorter legs like me you can still rock them.

I styled my jeans with a light yellow pinstripe bomber jacket, gray tee, and snakeskin strappy sandals. Just an easy casual day outfit to run some errands or go out to lunch.

So if you are in the market for a new pair of denim check out all the great pairs Madewell has. They have something for everyone.  Below I have linked some of my favs. Happy denim shopping friends!

Let me know if it was a big deal to you after having a baby to buy your first pair of jeans? I would love to know!

Colorful Stripes

Madewell Stripe Shirt (similar) | Levi Jeans | Sam Edelman Sandals | Ray Ban Sunglasses | Dogeared Necklace (here is the silver version)

Colorful stripe shirts are always a good idea for spring, at least they are to me! I feel like I go back and forth between neutral tones and bright loud ones depending on my mood. Today I’m bringing you some colorful inspo for your spring wardrobe. I love a bright shirt this time of year because it always gets me excited for that warm weather that will hopefully be here sooner than later. Plus it’s a super easy way to change up that same t-shirt and jeans uniform I have on rotation all the time.

Having always been a lover of stripes, there is a certain way I like to wear them so they compliment my body type instead of making me appear larger. The trick I have found is to pair the stripes with a higher waisted bottom (jeans, skirt, shorts) and to do what is called a half tuck. The half tuck (you can see it in my photos above) is taking one side of the shirt and tucking it into the bottoms you are wearing to give your waist some definition without having to tuck in the whole thing. It helps break up the proportions of your body so that your waist doesn’t get lost. I use the half tuck all the time especially because I am on the shorter side (5’3″) and I like that somewhat undone look. As a woman you want those curves being shown off in the best possible way. Try it out and tell me what you think!

To say it has been a while is an understatement, but life happens. I had a sweet baby girl and now I’m excited to be back! During my pregnancy, I was sick for over half the time and just didn’t feel good most days. Posting on here just wasn’t something I really wanted to do so I took a break. I know there are some of you out there who can relate. To be absolutely honest, I’m still not super comfortable in my own skin, but who really is after they bring a precious tiny human into the world. Now I’m pushing myself to be confident and proud of the healthy body God has given me. I’m still learning how to dress while I work to get back to a new normal, but who says you can’t camouflage some areas. So extra pounds and loose skin or not here we go!

Now for the good stuff! Springtime always makes me think of a good timeless trench coat. You can add one to any outfit and instantly feel put together. I’m all about that quick and easy life while looking like I spent hours figuring out what to wear. This blush trench coat does just that. I paired mine with jeans and a simple white tee. To add a little edge, I threw on some patent leather booties because I think pairing girly and edgy is just a great balance.

Whether you are running out the door to meet your girlfriends for happy hour in your skinny jeans or heading to Sunday brunch in a pretty floral dress, a trench coat is a perfect option. It can be an investment piece that you will seriously use for years to come.

My trench coat is from Gap, but it’s a few years old (it’s a timeless piece that I pull out every year to wear :)). I have linked some similar options in blush and khaki for you below! Happy almost spring!
