Summer always makes me think of sundresses and whats better then adding in some floral prints. This brings me to my summer flowers obsession. Sundresses can make anyone feel feminine and beautiful. I probably don’t wear them as much as my husband would like, but today i’m bringing you a layering option when the weather is in-between. I feel layering is key here in the bay area. In the morning its cooler, by the mid afternoon the sun can be beating down and at 5 o’clock you probably need a jacket. I paired my favorite sundress with a loose hoodie and jean jacket. Keeping in the summer weather, I added in my favorite sandal slides. How are you wearing your sundresses this summer?

P.S. How incredible are these murals! The Mission in San Francisco is full of them. If your in the area be sure to check them out along with the fabulous Mexican food.

I finally took the plunge and bought a good pair of flare jeans. I absolutely fell in love with these from Paige Denim. I’m a little behind on this trend, but it is probably because I swore I would never like another pair enough to purchase. That was my younger self-talking of course. My tune has definitely changed. This pair is high waisted with a dark wash making them so flattering and hug in all the right places. The best part about them is being a shortie at 5’3″ I usually need my pants altered and these are the perfect length with a heel. They make your legs look longer and who doesn’t love that.

To add to this spring vibe, I styled mine with a white crocheted top, nude snakeskin heels and a green leather bucket bag. I gave my girly look a little edge by adding a suede choker. I always love mixing feminine pieces with more edgy jewelry. Are you loving the flare jeans trend as well?

DIY Globe Guest Book

DIY Globe Guest Book - Vivian and Violet

Here is easy and creative DIY coming at ya! I have a bunch of friends getting married this year and it brings me back to all my favorite projects I did for my wedding. Instead of having a traditional guest book, I scoured Pinterest like everyone else does. I came across an amazing idea. What I came up with was a great decorative piece I could see my husband and I cherishing in our home for years to come.

DIY Globe Guest Book

What you will need:

  • globe – I snagged mine at a second hand store for $2
  • spray paint – any color that accents your wedding colors
  • screw driver

I detached the globe itself by unscrewing it from the bottom of the base (there is a screw in the bottom of mine to hold it together). Spray base evenly with spray paint in a well ventilated area (I did it outside) and allow to dry. Reattach globe and your finished. We used black sharpies for signing, but you could use any color you want.

If you can’t take your globe apart, make sure to cover it well with a trash bag or some type of plastic covering to protect it while spray painting the stand.

Having a globe as a guest book was a great interactive piece that got all our guests talking. We have some many friends and family from all over the world that were there to celebrate our special day. It was fun for them to sign where they were from. Don’t let not having a wedding stop you from using this great idea. If you have an anniversary party, birthday or graduation coming up you could totally incorporate this as the guestbook. You will cherish it for years to come.
