College Game Day Fashion

College game day starts tomorrow!! It is always an exciting time. Everyone is gearing up for the games and the start of the football season. All women are asking themselves the same question, what am I going to wear? Here are 3 outfit ideas for you. You never know what the weather may be in September. Below shows how you could dress in 3 different types of weather for fall. I was born and raised in Nebraska. These looks will all be about dressing for those Huskers!

For this first look think 80’s plus weather. Your outside tailgating with the sun beating down on you. You want to stay cool, but look fantastic. The back of this tank has some awesome detail. It keeps you cool while looking sporty. The varsity sweater tied around the waist is an awesome pop and the teams main color. It is also there for you to throw on later at night if the weather decides to cool down. I love when fashion and function collide.

Second look, think 60-70’s weather. Sophisticated and edgy, the button down keeps you looking polished. The frayed jean shorts and lace up sandals bring a cool girl edge. You could also add a statement necklace to make this look a little more dressy. My style is to keep it more effortless with a simple statement watch.

Third look, think 50-60’s weather. You can never go wrong with a Vintage tee. I’m also all about that denim on denim look. There is a right way to do it and that is making sure both denims are different washes. Have one wash be darker or lighter than the other and you are good to go. You could add more accessories to this look depending on what you are going for. You could easily add a statement necklace or hoop earrings and change the look of this outfit  instantly.

NOT dressing for the Huskers specifically or a team that is red and white? Use this as a guide for picking out your outfits. Swap out the red color for your teams color. Use black as the secondary color. Check out Tailgate Clothing for other teams awesome vintage t-shirts. They have some really cute ones!

Remember to dress how you want and to your style!  Which look is your fav??

DIY Glitter Clothespins

DIY Glitter Clothespins

Have a Wedding or dinner party coming up?? Here is an easy tutorial on how to add some sparkle to your place settings and other items you may need to use place cards for.

DIY Glitter Clothespins

Items you will need:

1) paint brush
2) clothes pins (light or dark wood, which ever you prefer) – purchased from Hobby Lobby: 15 pieces
3) Glitter- Martha Stewart colors (L to R): crystal, smokey quartz, turquiose, lapis lazuli, sterling
4)Mod Podge (I used a matte finish, you could always use glossy)

Put a paper or news paper to cover your table. I added a smaller folded piece of paper on top of my cover to catch the glitter when sprinkling it on the clothes pin. This made it easier for me to transfer the unused glitter back into the containers when I was done. Make sure you use a different paper for each color so you don’t mix the glitter colors when putting them back.

Coat the clothespin with Mod Podge. I only wanted glitter on the large flat sides of the pin, so I made sure to not have any glue dripping down the sides.

Sprinkle the glitter. The more glitter the better to cover the area.

Once the first side is coated with glitter, wait for it to dry. I waited 3 hours to make sure it was completely dry.

Once the glue is dry, pick up the clothes pin and gently tap it on the paper to remove the excess glitter. Turn the pin over and repeat the same steps to coat the other side of the clothespin.

Both sides of the clothespin should now be covered with dry beautiful glitter. Now coat one side the clothespin with Mod Podge. This will give you a smooth even finish when dry.

Here is the clothespin covered with the top coat Mod Podge. Let dry completely 2-3 hours. Turn the clothespin over and repeat.

Coating the glittered clothespins with a top coat of Mod Podge with keep the glitter in-tacked. When you go to pin them you won’t have glitter falling everywhere.

However, I did not coat the white crystal clothespins with the top coat of Mod Podge. I did one clothespin and it made the glitter almost disappear. If you are using really light colors opt to not put the top coat on those pins. I have used many colors and that was the first color I had any issues with the glitter not looking as sparkly.

You can use them for place settings. Here I am showing you two ways. You can clip it to the wine glass or set it on the plate. It adds a fun sparkle to you dining table.

The other two pictures are from my wedding. I had a dessert buffet where a lot of the guests were asked to make their favorite dessert. I had place cards made with the dessert name and person who made it. (Here I took off the names for privacy) It was a great way to get the guests involved. Everyone really loved all the different kinds of desserts they could pick from and also see who made them. The glitter clothespins added a fun touch to the dessert tables. I used regular and mini size clothespins to hold all the place cards.

The sky is the limit on these fun sparklers. You could glue a magnet to the back and use them on the fridge. They also work great when making signs for parties or special events.

What would you use a glitter clothespin for? If you have any questions please leave a comment below!

Be Kind, Be True, Be YouHello Inspiration Tuesday! Nothing is more beautiful to me than a person who is kind, true to themselves and not afriad to be their own person. I love this quote because it reminds me to always be kind and to be myself no matter what someone else thinks. Be yourself because no one else can do it for you. Just be you. Have a great week!

White Out

Fashion Friday- White Out

It may feel like fall a few days out of the week, but it is still summer with warm days lingering. I love mixing crop tops with high waisted skirts and shorts. You are still showing some skin, but keeping it classy. Pairing a more dressy outfit with some causal shoes is a great way to look effortlessly put together.
