We all search for the perfect pair of jeans and I like to think there are so many different brands out there because we all have different body shapes and denim preferences. But I think there is nothing better than finding your perfect pair or two (let’s be real the perfect 3) that we rotate through all the time. I’m talking about this because the jeans you see above are the first pair of denim I have bought post-baby. It honestly made me a little nervous to go out and buy them. I know this may sound silly to some but after having a baby I had the burning questions: “when am I going to fit back into my jeans and feel confident again? If I find a new pair I like, will I be the same size?” At the end of the day, it’s kind of dumb, who really cares if you wear the same size as long as you feel amazing.

It is safe to say I have found a pair I love and just in time for summer in the Bay Area. Bay Area summers are not what I am use to even after living here for almost 3 years. They are mild, sometimes almost cold (well in parts, there are a million micro-climates). So wearing jeans year round is very normal.

I have always been a big fan of Madewell and they did not disappoint. I picked this pair because I was looking for a jean that I could wear every day, but loved the fact that they had a raw hem. I also love that they are high waisted to hold you in all the right places. They run very true to size. I usually wear a 25 or 26 in Madewell denim and in these I am wearing a 26. I’m only 5’3″ so if you are taller these jeans will look like they are more cropped which I think is super cute, but if you have shorter legs like me you can still rock them.

I styled my jeans with a light yellow pinstripe bomber jacket, gray tee, and snakeskin strappy sandals. Just an easy casual day outfit to run some errands or go out to lunch.

So if you are in the market for a new pair of denim check out all the great pairs Madewell has. They have something for everyone.  Below I have linked some of my favs. Happy denim shopping friends!

Let me know if it was a big deal to you after having a baby to buy your first pair of jeans? I would love to know!

Colorful stripe shirts are always a good idea for spring, at least they are to me! I feel like I go back and forth between neutral tones and bright loud ones depending on my mood. Today I’m bringing you some colorful inspo for your spring wardrobe. I love a bright shirt this time of year because it always gets me excited for that warm weather that will hopefully be here sooner than later. Plus it’s a super easy way to change up that same t-shirt and jeans uniform I have on rotation all the time.

Having always been a lover of stripes, there is a certain way I like to wear them so they compliment my body type instead of making me appear larger. The trick I have found is to pair the stripes with a higher waisted bottom (jeans, skirt, shorts) and to do what is called a half tuck. The half tuck (you can see it in my photos above) is taking one side of the shirt and tucking it into the bottoms you are wearing to give your waist some definition without having to tuck in the whole thing. It helps break up the proportions of your body so that your waist doesn’t get lost. I use the half tuck all the time especially because I am on the shorter side (5’3″) and I like that somewhat undone look. As a woman you want those curves being shown off in the best possible way. Try it out and tell me what you think!
